Coast Guard suspends search for man overboard

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard suspended the search for a 35-year-old man who fell overboard near the Columbia River entrance yesterday.
Coast Guard Group Astoria received a call from the 36-foot fishing vessel Ida W II that one of their crew members had fallen overboard and was not wearing a life vest.
Coast Guard Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and Coast Guard Station Cape Disapointment launched two 47-foot motor life boat crews to the scene.
Weather conditions on scene were approaching gale force winds with water temperatures in the low to mid 50’s.
