Coast Guard Suspends Search for Juneau Man

JUNEAU, Alaska- The Coast Guard suspended search efforts today at 4 p.m. for Al Kegler, age 58, of Juneau, after air and sea searches were unable to locate him.

Coast Guard rescue helicopters from Air Station Sitka, patrol boats from Station Juneau, the Alaska State Troopers, Sitka Fire Dept., and SEADOGs have searched since Tuesday afternoon an area spanning as far south as St. James Bay north to Juneau and Lynn Canal from Lincoln Island to Shelter Island.

The individual islands of Lincoln, Ralston, and Benjamin were also searched by ground crews.

A dive team from the Sitka Fire Dept. is currently searching the waters near Lincoln Island.

Pending additional information, no further Coast Guard searches are planned.

Kegler was reported missing Tuesday after two people accompanying him saw him fall into the water after his 16-foot skiff overturned near Lincoln Island.
