Coast Guard Station Montauk medevacs heart attack victim from vessel near Montauk, N.Y.

NEW YORK – The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 60-year-old man today from a vessel less than one mile off Montauk Inlet, N.Y.

A crewmember aboard the recreational vessel Next Move contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound at approximately 9:30 a.m. today reporting a man suffered a heart attack and was in need of assistance.

Coast Guard Station Montauk arrived on scene and transferred one crewmember aboard the vessel to assess the man, who administered a shock with an Automated External Defibrillator. Once moored at Station Montauk, the Coast Guard crewmembers transferred the man to an Emergency Medical Service, which took him to a local hospital.
