Coast Guard Station Jones Beach assists vessel taking on water

NEW YORK – The Coast Guard responded to a report of a 21-foot pleasure craft taking on water near Long Beach, New York on Monday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received an uncorrelated MAYDAY broadcast which was determined to be in the area off of Long Beach.

Coast Guard Station Jones Beach launched a rescue boatcrew and arrived on scene with the vessel, a 21-foot pleasure craft.

Upon arrival the pleasure craft was still taking on water and was immediately placed in a side-tow by the rescue boatcrew.

The rescue boatcrew towed the vessel to the Magnolia Pier Marina in Long Beach, where it was trailered.
