Coast Guard Spots Missing Divers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., — The Coast Guard spotted two missing divers approximately 30-miles off the coast of Port Canaveral, Fla., at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Jerry Wilborn, 50, and another man were diving for lobster when they became separated from their boat. A crew member from their boat contacted the Coast Guard and reported the two men missing.

The Coast Guard launched an HH-60 helicopter from Air Station Clearwater, Fla., and a 47-foot boat from Station Port Canaveral to assist.

After the two divers were spotted by a Coast Guard helicopter, they were picked up by a Good Samaritan boat and then transferred back to the diver’s boat.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
