Coast Guard sets safety zone on the Allegheny River

PITTSBURGH — The U. S. Coast Guard is scheduled to establish a safety zone on the Allegheny River, Saturday, in preparation for the Head of the Ohio Regatta.

A Coast Guard MSU Pittsburgh 25-foot response boatThe safety zone will be from mile marker 0.0, near Heinz Quay, to 3.3, near the 40th Street Bridge, and will be enforced from 6:30 a.m., until 6:30 p.m.

Mariners shall not enter into, depart from, or move within the safety zone unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port Pittsburgh or a designated representative. All concerned mariners may contact the Coast Guard on the day of the event on VHF-FM Channel 16 for more information.
