Coast Guard sets Port Condition ZULU for the ports in the U.S. Virgin Islands

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Coast Guard set Port Condition ZULU at 5p.m. Monday for all the ports in the U.S. Virgin Islands due to the passing of Tropical Storm Gonzalo.

Ports under Port Condition ZULU will officially suspend port operations and are closed to all inbound and outbound vessel traffic until otherwise directed by the Coast Guard Captain of the Port, this includes the suspension in service for the St. Thomas and St. John ferries in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The eastern ports in Puerto Rico to include Vieques, Culebra, Fajardo and Yabucoa, are to remain under Port Condition YANKEE, while the remaining ports in Puerto Rico will remain under Port Condition X-RAY until otherwise directed by the Coast Guard Captain of the Port.

Following the passing of Tropical Storm Gonzalo through the area, Coast Guard teams will conduct port assessments prior to the reopening of ports under Port Condition ZULU.
