Coast Guard searching for two men overdue from Lake Michigan fishing trip

CLEVELAND — The Coast Guard is searching for two people reported overdue early Wednesday from a fishing trip on Lake Michigan.

Missing are Chris Patterson, 25, and Aaron Juarez, 33, aboard a 16-foot white and blue boat.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan in Milwaukee were notified just after 8 a.m., CDT, that the two men had not been heard from since late Friday or early Saturday when they reportedly left for a fishing trip from Port Sheldon, Michigan.

Local authorities confirmed the men’s truck and boat trailer were at the boat ramp.

Currently searching are: two Dolphin helicopters from Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City, Michigan; a boat crew from Coast Guard Station Grand Haven, Michigan, aboard a 47-foot rescue boat; and a Royal Canadian Air Force C-130 Hercules from 8 Wing/CFB Trenton, Ontario.
