Coast Guard searching for possible person in the water near Waimea Bay, Oahu

130 Barbers PointHONOLULU — The Coast Guard is searching for a possible person in the water near Waimea Bay, Thursday.

Missing is 59-year-old Alec “Ace Cool” Coke.

An HC-130 Hercules airplane crew launched from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point and is currently searching for any signs of distress in the area.

Coke’s girlfriend reported him missing to the Honolulu Police Department, Wednesday, after he failed to return from a surfing trip. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center received notification from HPD Thursday morning after Coke’s truck was found at St. Michael Church with his dog and keys still inside. The watchstanders responded by launching the Hercules crew.

Mariners are asked to keep a sharp lookout and report any signs of distress in the area to the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center at 808-842-2600.
