NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Okaloosa County Fire Department and good Samaritans are searching for a missing woman after a boat capsized near the East Destin Jetties in Destin, Florida, Friday.
The woman is described as 5-foot 2-inches tall, approximately 120 pounds, wearing a leopard print top with a black skirt, and with a Russian accent. She was on a boat with 10 other people when the boat struck the Destin jetties, subsequently capsizing.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report of 11 people in the water at 5:14 a.m. Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Destin 29-foot Response-Boat Small crew and a Station Destin 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water crew.
The Coast Guard, assisting agencies and good Samaritans rescued 10 people, four of which were transferred to waiting emergency medical services.
