Coast Guard searching for missing swimmer near Manhattan Beach

65 Los AngelesLOS ANGELES –– The Coast Guard is searching for a 25 year-old-male, after he was reported missing after entering the water at 5 p.m., Monday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received notification from Baywatch Redondo Beach of a possible missing swimmer near Manhattan Beach.

The individual was reported as a black male wearing dark grey swimming shorts.

The Coast Guard launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles-Long Beach, the Coast Guard Cutter Halibut, homeported in Marina del Rey, and a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles to search for the individual. Baywatch Redondo and Los Angeles County Fire Lifeguards are assisting in the search.
