Coast Guard Searching for Missing Port St.Lucie Diver

MIAMI - Coast Guard crews are searching for a missing 46-year-old Port St. Lucie, Fla., diver last seen approximately seven miles east of St. Lucie Inlet, Fla., Friday.

One man was recreational diving off a 25-foot boat when he failed to surface. His friend still aboard the vessel contacted Coast Guard search and rescue coordinators at Station Lake Worth Inlet, Fla., via VHF radio at approximately 12:40 p.m., requesting assistance.

A Coast Guard HH-65 helicopter crew from Air Station Miami and a crew from Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce, Fla., were launched to search for the missing man. An HU-25 Falcon jet crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami was also launched to assist with the search.
