MIAMI — Coast Guard rescue crews are searching for a missing 40 year-old male who went missing in the water in the vicinity of Singer Island, Fla., Saturday.

Around noon Saturday, Coast Guard Sector Miami received notification of five adults who went into the water to recover two girls who were pulled out to sea during a family outing.

Sector Miami issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast (UMIB), launched assets from Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet and Coast Guard Air Station Miami to respond.

Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office rescue boats responded and recovered the two children and four of the five adults. The last adult went missing shortly after rescue crews attempted to pull him out of the water.

“We will not give up the search until we exhaust all of our resources,” said Kurt Treemont, command duty officer at Coast Guard Sector Miami.

The Coast Guard Cutter Bluefin is currently on scene and will continue the search throughout the night.

The Coast Guard Cutter Bluefin is an 87-foot patrol boat homeported in Fort Pierce, Fla.
