Coast Guard searching for missing man in Pensacola, Fla.

MOBILE, Ala. – The Coast Guard is searching for a man who was surfing Saturday in the vicinity of the Navarre Beach Pier in Pensacola, Fla.

Coast Guard Station Pensacola received a report at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Saturday from Santa Rosa County reporting that John Stevens, 17-years-old, went missing while surfing with his grandfather.

To assist the Santa Roas County search efforts on Saturday, Air Station New Orleans launched an HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew, Sector Mobile diverted the Coast Guard Cutter Cobia and crew, and Station Pensacola lauched a small boat and crew. The Coast Guard is continuing its search today with the helicopter and crew from Air Sation New Orleans, the Cobia and a small boat and crew from Coast Guard Station Destin, Fla. An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast (UMIB) has also been issued to mariners.
