Coast Guard searching for missing Lake Champlain sailor

1st Coast Guard District NewsBOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for a missing 64-year-old sailor near Malletts Bay, in Lake Champlain, Vermont, Sunday.

Missing is Brian Webb.

Webb’s wife contacted the Coast Guard at 10:25 a.m. Sunday reporting her husband did not show up at church as scheduled. He reportedly spent the night aboard his 34-foot sailing vessel Hellen Louise, which was anchored and found unoccupied in Malletts Bay Sunday morning. The Hellen Louise’s dingy, Jessie B, was not attached to the vessel.

Currently searching are crews from:

  • A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts, MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter
  • Coast Guard Station Burlington
  • Colchester, Vermont, Police Department
  • Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection
