Coast Guard Searching for Missing Diver

CHARLESTON, S.C., – The Coast Guard is searching for a missing diver approximately 62-miles east of St. Simons Island, Ga., Thursday evening.

Three adult males were diving from a 29-foot boat when one of the men disappeared. One of the remaining men then contacted the Coast Guard and requested assistance at approximately 4:30 p.m.

A helicopter crew from Air Station Savannah, Ga., launched to search for the missing man. The Coast Guard has issued an urgent information marine broadcast to notify boaters in the area where the diver was reported missing.

The USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 17), from Norfolk, Va., and the USS De Wert (FFG-45), from Mayport, Fla., and several Good Samaritans are also assisting in the search.
