MIAMI – The Coast Guard is searching for a missing boater Monday in the vicinity of Schooner Bank, near Long Key, Florida.

Missing is Greg Thomson, 75, who was last seen around Schooner Bank on a 19-foot skiff. Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders were notified at approximately 8:40 p.m. Sunday that Thomson was missing.

The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Marathon 33-foot Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement boatcrew and Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew.

Thomson and a friend were reportedly towing a 19-foot skiff with their 36-foot sport fisher when the 36-foot boat broke down. The two notified SeaTow of their situation and requested assistance.

SeaTow arrived on scene to begin towing the two vessels, but Thomson reportedly got frustrated and departed on the 19-foot skiff.

An Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew was scheduled to conduct a first light search.
