Coast Guard searching for man missing in Spring Creek, Texas

HOUSTON – The Coast Guard is searching for a man in his 20s who went missing in Spring Creek, Texas today.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston received a phone call at 1:25 p.m. from the Spring Creek Fire Department requesting assistance.

Coast Guard Air Station Houston launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew to join in the search.

The man was swimming with some friends when he was swept downstream by stronger-than-normal currents, due to the area’s recent heavy rainfall. The man’s friends called the Spring Creek Fire Department and began searching the riverbank.

  1. I was the Incident commander of the rescue operation for the incident on Spring Creek. The fire department responding was Spring Volunteer Fire Department. I would like to contact someone at the Houston Galveston office by email to thank them for the numerous times the USCG has assisted us in the past 6 or 7 years or so. Also there is not a Spring Creek Fire Department. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
