Coast Guard searching for 57-year-old man in Neches River

HOUSTON – The Coast Guard is searching for a 57-year-old man who went missing in the Neches River, Texas last night.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston received a phone call at midnight from the neighbor of the missing man. The neighbor reported that he had seen the missing man leave to go boating at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, but had not seen him return. The neighbor also reported that he had gone out searching for the missing man later Wednesday evening, but could not find him.

Coast Guard Air Station Houston launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew and Station Sabine Pass dispatched a rescue boat crew to search. They continued searching through-out the night and were joined this morning by the Orange County Sherriff’s Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife.
