Coast Guard searches for man overboard
SEATTLE - The Coast Guard is searching for a 35-year old man who fell overboard near the Columbia River entrance today.
Coast Guard Group Astoria received a call from the 36-foot fishing vessel Ida W II that one of their crew members had fallen overboard and was not wearing a life vest.
Coast Guard Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment launched two 47-foot motor life boat crews to the scene. The search is still on-going.
Weather conditions on scene are approaching gale force winds with water temperatures in the low to mid 50’s.
