Coast Guard saves sinking vessel near Warrenton, Oregon

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard and Warrenton Fire Department saved the 42-foot fishing vessel Doreen from sinking at the Warrenton Boat Basin in Warrenton, Ore., last night.

Coast Guard Group/Air Station Astoria received a distress call from the Doreen’s owner at approximately 11:47 p.m. stating the vessel was quickly taking on water at the marina. Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment dispatched a truck with dewatering equipment.

Boom was deployed around the vessel in the event any oil or fuel escaped into the water. The area will be searched for signs of pollution this morning.

The cause of the accident is unknown.
