Coast Guard Saves 3 Lives Near Ft. Morgan, Alabama

Mobile, AL – The Coast Guard rescued three boaters two nautical miles southwest of Ft. Morgan, Ala., at approximately 10:30 a.m. today.

Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a call through 911 dispatch of a vessel taking on water. A HH-65C rescue trainer helicopter crew was diverted from the Aviation Training Center Mobile and a 25-foot response boat crew from Station Dauphin Island launched to search in the general vicinity of Mobile Bay.

Within approximately 15 minutes, the rescue helicopter crew located a partially submerged 19-foot Sea Craft approximately 2nm southwest of Ft. Morgan, directly south of the entrance to Mobile Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. The rescue helicopter crew also found three persons in the water and hoisted one while the response-boat crew rescued the other two.
