Coast Guard responds to sunken vessel off Catalina Island

11th Coast Guard District NewsSAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard responded to a report of a 61-foot fishing vessel that sank in the vicinity of Eagle Rock near Catalina Island Tuesday evening.

Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach was notified at approximately 10 p.m. PDT Tuesday, and the Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal was dispatched to the scene.

Six people were aboard the fishing vessel Midnight Hour and were rescued by a good Samaritan. There are no reports of any injuries.

The Coast Guard is continuing to monitor the situation to respond to any potential environmental impact. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
