Coast Guard Responds to Natural Gas Leak
ROCKPORT, Texas - A Coast Guard HH-65C helicopter crew and pollution investigator from Sector Corpus Christi responded to a report of a 3000-foot by 150-foot sheen in Aransas Bay at 10:20 a.m.
The Coast Guard was assisted by the Texas General Land Office in determining that the sheen was coming from a broken pipe off a natural gas platform reportedly owned by PI Energy.
The pollution source was secured and the sheen dissipated without requiring cleanup. The case is pending further Coast Guard investigation.
