Coast Guard responds to diesel spill near Hooker’s Point, Florida

TAMPA – The Coast Guard is responding to a report of a diesel spill near Hooker’s Point, Fla., in the Port of Tampa Wednesday.

Officials at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Fla., received notification that a floating crane barge discharged diesel fuel near Berth 219, near Hooker’s Point in the Port of Tampa.

The floating crane barge’s tank holds approximately 6,000 gallons of fuel.

The spill has been been contained and clean-up efforts are currently underway.

Investigators from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg are currently onscene with the responsible party to determine the cause of the spill.
