Coast Guard responds to collision in the Mississippi Sound

GULFPORT, Miss. – The Coast Guard responded to a collision involving a sailboat and a towing vessel Thursday in the Mississippi Sound.

The sailboat Sound Advice and the towing vessel Velma C, collided at approximately 3 a.m. approximately 3 miles southeast of Bayou Caddy, Miss.

The four people aboard the Sound Advice and four people aboard the Velma C. were reportedly not injuried.

The crew of the Sound Advice reported damage to the port deck and porthole above the waterline and the crew of the Velma C reported no damage.

The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the incident.
