Coast Guard responds to cardiac victim

A U.S. Coast Guard crew responded early Tuesday morning to a call that a man aboard the schooner Heritage was in cardiac arrest, while the 85-foot sailing vessel was anchored in Carver Cove in Vinalhaven.

William Edsel Austin, 67, of Milledgeville, Ga., was pronounced dead when emergency medical personnel arrived on board the Heritage, according to Chief Warrant Officer Curtis Barthel, commanding officer of Coast Guard Station Rockland, on Tuesday.
