Coast Guard Responds to Capsized Pilot Boat

GALVESTON, Texas – The Coast Guard is responding to a capsized pilot boat with two people reported on board at the south end of the Galveston Jetties outside Galveston, Texas.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Station Galveston received a mayday call at 12:08 p.m. today from a nearby pilot boat in the vicinity of the capsized vessel.

A Station Galveston rescue boat and Air Station Houston helicopter were launched to assist in the search. One person was rescued from the water and brought to The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

The Coast Guard Cutter Manowar, an 87-foot patrol boat homeported in Galveston, arrived on scene and is conducting search patterns with the Station Galveston small boat.
