Coast Guard responds to boat fire

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard rescued two people from a 38-foot motor yacht that was on fire at 10:09 a.m. near the Cabrillo Yacht Club.

A 25-foot Response Boat from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles was dispatched to the scene, and Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) launched two fire boats which extinguished the fire.

Both people on board were safely removed from the vessel with no injuries.

Los Angeles City Fire Department towed the vessel to the Cabrillo Marina.

The Coast Guard wishes to remind the public that wearing a life jacket is paramount to saving lives and to always file a float plan with a trusted source.
