Coast Guard responds to adrift vessel in Gastineau Channel

Coast Guard  Station Juneau tows a vessel in Gastineau ChannelJUNEAU, Alaska – Crewmembers aboard a Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Life Boat from Coast Guard Station Juneau towed the 30-foot fishing vessel Caro Lyn in 40 mph winds to the Juneau Yacht Club pier in Gastineau Channel at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010.

The Caro Lyn was at anchor in Douglas Harbor near Lawson Creek until wind gusts up to 67 mph moved the vessel into Gastineau Channel with no one aboard.

The National Weather Service forecast 65 mph winds however wind gusts up to 67 mph were recorded in Gastineau Channel.
