Coast Guard responding to Westport diesel spill

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard is responding to a diesel sheen at the Westport Marina in Westport, Wash., today.

An unknown amount of diesel fuel has entered the water and created a sheen throughout the marina.

Coast Guard Sector Portland has investigators en route to the scene and are working with Washington State Ecology officials, local harbor master, and Station Grays Harbor to organize containment and clean up. Through the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund, contractors have been hired from the National Response Corporation to help in clean-up efforts.
