Coast Guard responding to tall ship on rocks

BOSTON — Two Coast Guard boat crews are assisting 16 people aboard a tall ship that is on the rocks about 400 yards off Nonamesset Island, Mass., in Great Harbor Wednesday.

No injuries or pollution have been reported at this time.

The crew of the 118-foot tall ship Unicorn contacted Coast Guard Station Woods Hole at 10:30 a.m., on VHF-FM radio channel 16 reporting they needed assistance.

Two 41-foot boat crews from the station arrived on scene at 10:35 a.m., to begin removing the people from the ship.

At this time the plan is to bring them back to Station Woods Hole, Mass., however this is subject to change.

The cause of the incident is currently unknown.
