Coast Guard responding to report of a downed aircraft

LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard is currently involved in a search after receiving a report of the crash of a small aircraft approximately one mile south-west of the Pismo State Beach pier, Pismo, Calif., Jan. 14, 2014.

Search and rescue workers on scene reportedly found debris, human remains and a wallet.

The Coast Guard was notified that persons in the vicinity of the pier reportedly saw a small aircraft go down at approximately 2p.m.

The Coast Guard currently has two 47-foot search and rescue boats, a 110-ft Patrol Boat, and a search and rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles on scene searching the reported area.

Also searching are a San Luis Obispo County Harbor Patrol Small Boat and a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
