Coast Guard rescues unconscious man from out-of-control boat

GULFPORT, Miss. — The Coast Guard rescued an unconscious man from an out-of-control pleasure boat near the Gulfport Ship Channel, Monday.

Coast Guard Sector Mobile, Ala. received a report at 8:17 a.m. from a crewmember aboard the motor vessel Miami River that the 39-foot recreational vessel, Capt. Avery, was turning in circles and that no one appeared to be on board.

Coast Guard Station Gulfport launched a 41-foot utility boat and crew, which arrived on scene at 8:49 a.m. The Coast guard crew was able to gain control of the M/V Capt. Avery and board the vessel. The boarding team found one person aboard, who was unconscious.

The unconscious person was transported to Coast Guard Station Gulfport where local EMS were waiting to transport the person to a nearby hospital.

The person’s condition is unknown.
