Coast Guard rescues three from Coquille River near Powers, Oregon

13th Coast Guard District NewsSEATTLE — The Coast Guard rescued three people who were stranded on an island in the Coquille River near Powers, Ore., Wednesday.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Group/Air Station North Bend, Ore., was in the area and diverted to the island after receiving the report at approximately 10 a.m.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 10:30 a.m. and hoisted the three people off the island and transferred them to the Coos County Sherriff’s Dept.

The three people were stranded after their raft capsized during a boating trip. They were able to swim to the island without sustaining injuries.
