Coast Guard Rescues Mariner After Sail Boat Runs Aground

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – A boat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape Charles, Va., rescued a mariner this morning from a 39-foot sailboat, registered in the United Kingdom, after it ran aground in a creek in the vicinity of Cape Charles.

Rescued was Jeffry Bolton.

“We advise all mariners to monitor weather before departing, because weather can shift very quickly,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Matt Smith, officer of the day at Coast Guard Station Cape Charles.

Bolton will attempt to salvage the vessel once weather subsides.
