Coast Guard rescues man stranded on rocks at Cape Kiwanda, Oregon

Pacific Northwest Coast Guard NewsASTORIA, Ore. — The Coast Guard rescued a man stranded on the rocks at Cape Kiwanda, Ore., Saturday.

Coast Guard Sector Columbia River, located in Astoria, received a report at approximately 6:10 p.m., stating a man was stranded on some rocks at Cape Kiwanda, approximately one mile northwest of Pacific City, Ore.

Sector Columbia River launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to assist local search-and-rescue crews who could not reach the man.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene and lowered a rescue swimmer. The crew then hoisted the man to the helicopter and transported him to awaiting EMS crews.

No injuries were reported.
