Coast Guard rescues man stranded on cliff

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard rescued a 46-year old man who was stranded on a cliff near Dog Creek in Skamania County, Wash., yesterday.

Coast Guard Group Astoria received a call from the Washington State Emergency Operations Center requesting helicopter assistance for a man who was stranded on a cliff near Dog Creek.

Coast Guard Air Station Astoria diverted an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from a patrol to airlift the stranded man. The crew was able to successfully hoist the man from the cliff and he was then taken to Home Valley Park, Wash., where local emergency personnel were waiting.

No injuries were reported.
