Coast Guard Rescues Man in Chicago River

CALUMET HARBOR, Ill. – The Coast Guard rescued a man near Halstead Bridge in the Chicago River at approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday.

A 25-foot response boat from Station Calumet Harbor arrived on-scene and a boat crewman jumped in the water to keep the man from drowning.

The man was pulled on to the boat and taken to awaiting Emergency Medical Services on shore.

It is not known why the man was in the water. The incident is under investigation.
