Coast Guard Rescues Man from Boat Fire
ST. CLARE SHORES, Mich. — Coast Guard Station St. Clare Shores rescued an 82-year-old man from a fire on his 42-foot boat today near the Gross Pointe Yacht Club at approximately 10:30 a.m.
The station assisted John Henry Lyngklip on to their 33-foot Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement boat, while a commercial salvage vessel extinguished the fire.
Commercial salvage transferred the 42-footer to Miller Marina.
Apparently, a hot water heater caused the fire on the boat.
Upon transport to the station, Lyngklip was unharmed.
