Coast Guard rescues injured man from sailboat near Cape Lookout, Oregon

ASTORIA, Ore. — The Coast Guard transported an injured man from a sailboat approximately four miles from Cape Lookout, Ore., to shore in Tillamook, Ore., Monday.

Air Station Astoria received a report stating a man aboard the sailboat had fallen and was having trouble breathing.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria and two 47-foot motor life boat crews from Station Tillamook Bay, Ore., were sent to the scene.

One 47-foot motor life boat crew transported the man to shore while the other crew towed the vessel to Tillamook Bay.

The man was taken by ambulance to Tillamook County General Hospital in Tillamook, where he was determined to have two broken ribs and a punctured lung.
