Coast Guard rescues family after boat capsizes

PORT ARANSAS, Texas – The Coast Guard rescued two adults and one child when their pleasure craft capsized in the Corpus Christi shipping channel near the Port Aransas ferry landing, Monday.

A watchstander from Station Port Aransas received a call for help at 12 p.m. from a good Samaritan reporting that they had witnessed a vessel capsize near the Port Aransas ferry.

A Coast Guard 45-foot response boat was conducting operations not far from the scene and diverted to the reported position of distress. The rescue boat crew arrived on scene 3 minutes later to find a 14-foot pleasure craft capsized with three people floating in the water.

All three survivors were wearing life jackets or had access to floatation devices.

The survivors were taken to Station Port Aransas and were reported to be in good condition and without injury.
