Coast Guard rescues boater near Mayport, Fla.

The Coast Guard rescued a boater from a 22-foot fishing boat after it ran aground in a marsh approximately 5-miles north of Mayport, Fla., Monday.

Rescued was Perry Thompson, 49, of Jacksonville, Fla.

A  MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, Ga., deployed a rescue swimmer and rescued Thompson at approximately 12:49 p.m. Monday.

Thompson was transported to Craig Municipal Airport in Jacksonville.

Also responding to the distress was a Coast Guard Station Mayport 25-foot rescue boatcrew.
