Coast Guard rescues 80-year-old woman trapped in her home by flash flood

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Coast Guard rescued an 80-year-old woman trapped in her home due to flash flooding near Corpus Christi Friday evening.

A watch stander at Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi received a call from the Jim Wells County Police Department requesting help due to local flash flooding.

Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi diverted an HH-65C helicopter rescue crew from another search and rescue mission at approximately 7:17 p.m. The rescue crew arrived on scene approximately 20 minutes later.

A rescue swimmer was lowered to hoist the woman into the helicopter.

The woman was transferred to local emergency management services, her condition is currently unknown.
