Coast Guard rescues 4 from sinking boat

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Coast Guard rescued four people after their recreational boat started sinking outside of the jetties in Matagorda, Texas, this morning.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi received a mayday at 9:47 a.m. from one of the people on the boat reporting that they were sinking. Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi diverted an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew to assist.

The helicopter crew rescued all four people from the water after the boat capsized.

The helicopter crew transported the four people to Coast Guard Station Port O’Connor, Texas, where emergency medical teams were waiting to take them to Memorial Medical Center in Port Lavaca, Texas.

    My son was rescued in this incident and we are truly grateful for the service the Coast Guard provides.
