CHARLESTON, S.C. – U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crews from Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, Ga., hoisted four adults from a 35-foot sailboat with disabled engines in 15-to-20-foot seas 65 miles off Charleston Friday afternoon.

The helicopter crews hoisted the four sailors into two helicopters and took them to Charleston Executive Airport in John’s Island, S.C.

The sailors contacted Coast Guard Sector Charleston Thursday evening to report the vessel’s engine was disabled and it was beset by weather. The Yellowfin launched immediately to provide assistance and arrived on scene with the sailboat Friday morning.

There were no injuries reported.
