Coast Guard rescues 3 near Manasquan Inlet

MANASQUAN, N.J. – The Coast Guard rescued three people from the water today after the 69-foot fishing boat they were aboard sank near Manasquan Inlet in Point Pleasant, N.J., Harbor.

The Coast Guard received a call at 12:15 a.m. via VHF marine radio from a crewman aboard the Susie II reporting they were taking on water and needed assistance.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet arrived on scene and recovered all three people from the water.

The rescue boat crew transported the fishermen to Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet and transferred them to emergency medical personnel.

All three fishermen were wearing survival suits when their boat sank.

The owner of the Susie II is working with members of the Coast Guard on a salvage plan.
