Coast Guard 8th District News
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued three men after their boat sank near Breton Sound, Thursday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report from the fiancee of one of those rescued at approximately 11 a.m., stating that the 19-foot pleasure craft that the three men were on was sinking and they needed assistance.

A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65C rescue helicopter and crew was diverted and successfully hoisted the three men to safety. The men were taken to the air station in Belle Chasse.

“All three men were wearing personal flotation devices,” said Lt. Rebecca Fosha, a pilot with Air Station New Orleans. “The Coast Guard also reminds boaters to carry a radio on board your vessel and to file a float plan before going out onto the water.”
