Coast Guard Rescues 3 Fishermen

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard Cutter Yellowfin rescued three men on disabled a 28-foot fishing boat 41 miles southeast of Charleston Monday at approximately 1 p.m.

Ronald Fortuna, 39, of Isle of Palms, S.C., Edward Fortuna, 38 of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Greg Rubin, 32, of West Ashley, S.C., were reported overdue Sunday at approximately 8 p.m. by family members after the men didn’t return as expected from their fishing trip 25 miles east of Isle of Palms.

A Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Savannah, Ga., a small boat from Coast Guard Station Charleston, a fixed-wing aircraft from Air Station Clearwater, Fla., and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources all searched for the three men.
