SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard rescued three boaters from the water approximately one mile west of Carslbad, California, Thursday.

At 2 p.m. Thursday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a distress call from the 19-foot recreational vessel Sasquatch, reporting they were taking on water and the bilge pumps were unable to keep up.

A Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and the Coast Guard Cutter Edisto immediately diverted to assist.

The Edisto crew arrived on scene and safely rescued all three men from the water. They were wearing lifejackets.

All three men were safely transported to the Oceanside Harbor boat launch facility.

San Diego Fire Department crews were able to dewater the vessel and tow the vessel to Oceanside Harbor.

The Edisto is a 110-foot Island-class patrol boat homeported in San Diego.
